wonderful tour!

On Monday, June 18th, I went to the “Asahi Shinbun” tour. Ordinal, when I hear the word “newspaper”, I often imagine that it is written about very difficult and serious things. So, I am ashamed to say that I often hesitate to read news without the TV schedule, sports column, and English-language news paper. However, through this tour, I recognized that there are a lot of accurate and beneficial information and there is a lot of people’s effort to make one newspaper.
Through the tour, there were a lot of surprised things for me.
First, I think each newspaper has only one version; in other words, one newspaper is common published by same day. However, in fact, there are at least three versions per one newspaper. According to the explanation of guide, which edition we can get is decided by distance from printing office.
Second, in order to publish more fresh information, manuscript is re-written again and again until the close. I thought it is very hard work.
Third, now, we can use e-mail to send information quickly, but until recently, we cannot use these systems. Then, How did news reporter send new information to the in own company? The answer is pigeons. According to the explanation of the guide, pigeon has a special ability to come back to own den. The probability of pigeons getting back to own house is over 90%. It is marvelous discovery. I defer to this discovery.
Finally, newspaper’s company which I saw on TV is same as real newspaper company. Editer looks very serious. Printing office is moved very fast. I was very surprised. So, this tour became a precious experience. Thank you for inviting me wonderful tour.

Do you know "Kabaddi"?

←This picture is quoted by this cite.http://kabaddi.yochisha.keio.ac.jp/kabaddi.htm
Now, I'll introduce an interesting sport.
It is "Kabaddi". It's very popular sports in South Asia especially India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. This sports looks like Japanese "Onigokko", but actually, Kabaddi is far from it. It's a very violent sport. How to play is each group has seven members. When the game begins, someone gets into the enemy's territory, and touches one person and then, back to the in own position in order not to touch enemies. Each member must say "Kabaddi" "Kabaddi" in a very laud voice when they are in enemy's territory. When it successeds, one or two points can be after. It is a very hard task. Now, Kabaddi infiltrate among Japanese people. More detail and information are published at Nihon amateur Kabaddi kyokai's homepage. If you are interested in it, please check it out.

This is an entrance of beautiful sound

What object do you think it is? I found it on the station platform. First time, I think it is some kind of switch, however, it is mysterious what is it for? Is it button for electric light? One day, this problem is solved. When I get on the train on my way to home, I found a conductor push this button! When he pushes the button, then music flowed. So, this switch is for the sign of departure. By the way, when we get on the train, we can hear departure music. This music is different from each station. Among then, there are unique music. Especially JR Ebisu station, we can hear the “Ebisu beer” commercial song. That’s very fantastic. So, this music is not only role about sign of departure, but also shows the typicality of the town. I prefer this comfortable music to the loud screech of bell. Departure music makes our felling better.

Theme: What a Sugidama is and what it is for?

“Sugidama” is a handmade round object made by Japanese cedar. Another name is “sakabayashi”. We can see this at the front of sake dealer especially long-established store. It has a role as s signboard that here is a sake dealer. The most important role about “Sugidama” is to show people about ready for selling sake. People recognize these things to see the Sugidama. Another important role is to show condition about Sake. At first, Sugidama is green, but day by day, it becomes blasted and its color turns brown. This phenomenon corresponds to condition of sake. Sugidama become getting darker, conditions of sake getting better and mellow. How to make is at first, prepare for wire and make round ball, and then pushing Japanese cedar in order not to make crevice. According to one theory, Sugidama was made for praying good harvest but in fact, it is not clear reason and definition. However, we can say that it is a beautiful Japanese traditional culture and I think we must keep this wonderful customs.
